A Rural Trend?
by Dan-O ini was talking with one of my brothers recently, and he commented on something he's noticed while travelling.
he noticed that a lot of kingdom halls seem to be popping up in rural areas.
i know that a town in the next county built one outside of town a couple of years ago, and the kh in my own town has a 'for sale' sign on the lawn.

Land is probably cheaper in rural areas. If it was happening in Canada, I would say tax and urban fuel prices.

"MENTAL-REGULATING OF JEHOVAH"? What the hell is that? If JWs didn't want to sound like a brainwashing cult they shouldn't have translated it this way. Lets see how other translations interpret this passage (a favourite past-time of JWs when the translation agrees with them)
NRSV: 4 And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord
NAB: Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up with the training and instruction of the Lord
NIV: 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord

Movies and TV Shows You Didn't Watch Because You Were A JW
by minimus inthis week i mentioned how i never saw the movie "ghost" because it was considered "demonistic".
i also volunteered that that i could not watch "bewitched", although "i dream of jeannie" was a conscience matter......any thing you didn't watch because you were a witness?

I watched whatever I though was appropriate. I regularly watchted the X-Files and many horror movies including the Exoricst (based on a true story). I even watched Star Wars even though JWs in my area said that George Lucas used a spirit medium to make the movie.

Memorial Experience
by CaptainSchmideo inat my congregation's memorial, i saw two things i have never seen before.. 1. since jesus said a prayer "over the bread and wine", the elders who gave the prayers just before passing the utensils took the microphone out of the podium, walked over to the table, and said the prayer "over the bread and wine.
" never saw this before in over 30 years of attendance.. .
2. one elder, probably the most knowledgable, been a witness since he was a kid in the fifties, was wearing a lapel pin on his jacket, very small, looked like a black button.

Rescinding Baptismal Status?

JW Baptisms are not valid and cannot be considered thus for they do not say "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" as Christ said. Don't worry about changing your status, its what you believe about yourself and your spiritual condition that matters not some organisation in New York.
